Sesa Football Academy’s Chukwudi Chukwuma on trial with Czech Republic Top Division side

In what can be considered a breakthrough for Indian youth academies, Sesa Football Academy striker Chukwudi Chukwuma has been invited by and is currently on trial with FK Teplice, a top division club in the Czech Republic Gambrinus Liga.

FK Teplice competed in the 1999-2000 UEFA Champions League and 2009-2010 UEFA Europa League andhas had Bosnia & Herzegovina and Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko as a part of its alumni.

Chukwudi Chukwuma, known for his blistering pace and clinical finishing abilities, began his stint with Sesa Football Academy in 2010churning out impressive displays in the Goa Pro League and U20 I-League over the past couple of years.

Having trained under the watchful eyes of his father, Clifford Chukwuma, and ex-Academy Director and Chief Scout of Panathinaikos FC and current Sesa FA Technical Director Tassos Sioulas, Chukwudi developed a solid reputation in the Indian football industry due to his consistent display of strength and skill on the pitch and professionalism off the pitch.

Chukwudi was elated after learning about the trial and said, “It is an honour to have been invited by FK Teplice. This is a tremendous opportunity for me to realize my childhood dream of playing in Europe. I am ready and will do my best to impress the coaches and secure a contract with the club.”

Executive Director of Sesa Sterlite (erstwhile Sesa Goa), Mr P.K. Mukherjee quoted, “We are very proud that Chukwudi has been invited by a big European Club such as FK Teplice FC. Chukwudi has worked extremely hard over the past 4 years at Sesa Football Academy and all our wishes are with him, and we hope that he becomes the first academy player from India to get a contract with a top division club in Europe.”

Sesa Football Academy appointed Libero Sports India as their official management consultant in 2011 to assist the academy in leveraging opportunities through their expertise and network.
