'Brandon is a very good player' - ASD Cape Town coach

The India U-19 international is on a two-week trial with English Premier League side Reading FC. Goal.com tracks the youngster's rise to this achievement...
The plaudits just keep coming for Brandon Fernandes. The youngster, who has just been picked up by Reading for a trial, is an example of how hard work and discipline can propel a player to great heights. The player's father Jaju Fernandes had expressed his confidence about his son's discipline when compared to other players of his age.

Brandon admitted the callup to Reading was a bit of a surprise. "When I heard about it (Reading's interest), I couldn't believe it because this opportunity doesn't get to [every] Indian players and it's very hard for Indian players to play for English Premier League clubs," said the player to South Africa's E TV news.

Brandon's coach Douglas Williams at ASD Cape Town too chipped in with his share of positive comments about the player. "He's a creative player and a good passer of the ball. He's adept with both feet and a good finisher as well. He has the ability to change a game with his mastery and trickery on the ball. Overall, a good player," said the coach.

Brandon's skills were first noticed during the Manchester United Soccer Skills programme after which he was snapped up by ASD Cape Town which paved the way for Reading to offer the youngster a shot to play for a Premier League club.
