McDowell’s No. 1 Announce Tie-Up With Shillong Lajong

McDowell’s No. 1, the flagship brand of United Spirits Limited, today announced a tie-up with Shillong Lajong Football Club.

Lajong FC is the biggest Club in the North East and has already created history by becoming the first team to make it to the I-League 2009-2010 from this region. They finished second among the six teams that took part in the final qualifying round of the second division of I-League held at Gurgaon in April, 2009.

Speaking on the occasion, Larsing M Sawyan said, “We are proud to tie-up with McDowell’s No 1, the largest FMCG brand in India. The association will help catapult the Club in the big league. There is abundant football talent in the North East. Our dream is to identify budding footballers & leave an indelible mark on the Indian and international Football map.”

McDowell’s No 1 is a legendary brand from United Spirits that was recently rated as the largest FMCG brand in India with a retail value of Rs 8300 crores by PASH, an independent research company from the UK. The brand sold over 27 million cases in 2008-09 across its whiskey, rum and brandy franchise.
