East Bengal defeated their junior team 3-1 at the Howrah stadium while Mohun Bagan lost 2-0 against fellow Calcutta Football League side Peerless on Tuesday morning.
South Korean attacker Do Dong Hyun opened the scoring for the Red and Golds before the youngsters pulled one back. However, Dong scored two more goals to complete his hat-trick and give Trevor James Morgan a sense of relief.
On the other hand, the Green and Maroons fielded a strong XI including the likes of Prabir Das, Kean Lewis and Chinta Chandrasekhar Rao but still failed to score. Peerless, which had former India international Syed Rahim Nabi in its ranks, had little trouble to dispense the feeble resistance put up by the Mariners.
Both teams will play a number of friendlies before the competitive matches start in the first week of August.
