Japanese midfielder Yusa Katsumi was the first foreign player to join Mohun Bagan’s pre-season practice on Monday.
Yusa, who had rejected a lucrative offer from Bharat FC to extend his stay at the club, showed up at the practice session on Monday morning after reaching Kolkata on Sunday evening.
However, with Sanjoy Sen deciding to conduct a session at the club gym, Yusa didn't have the opportunity to take part in full fledged practice. However, he was seen taking a few rounds on the ground with only the club physiotherapist Abhinandan Chatterjee.
With the Bagan management leaving it late to take a final call on the foreign signings, Yusa is set to be the only foreign player in the training for the next few days.
Yusa has been one of the most consistent players for the Mariners, starting in all of the 44 I-League matches since he has joined the club.
On the other hand, Shilton Paul, the captain of the side may miss a couple of matches in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) owing to an injury. Shouvik Ghosh is also undergoing treatment to completely recover from an injury which saw miss the entire last season.
With a number of key players leaving for the Indian Super League (ISL), Sen has shown interest in roping in former East Bengal striker Manandeep Singh.
