Top and Flop: Sporting Clube de Goa 2-0 Bharat FC

Brandon Fernandes scored a sublime free-kick to help his side register their second win this season...

Welcome to Goal 's new I-League feature: Top and Flop . For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal , who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

TOP: BRANDON FERNANDES

The Salgaocar FC youth product put the Bharat FC's defense under pressure throughout. He nearly beat Arindam Bhattacharya with a free-kick in the 34th minute. His attempt to beat the Lions' custodian at the near post from the right side was also a close call before Brandon eventually struck a sublime free-kick to send the ball into the top left corner. He was substituted in the 88th minute and was applauded by the assembled fans for his fantastic display.

FLOP: VICTORINO FERNANDES

Victorino shot wide from inside the box after receiving a good pass by Brandon Fernandes in the 61st minute. The Goan striker could have done better in one-on-one situations with Gouramangi Moirangthem. His fancy footwork didn't help either as he fumbled in another goalscoring opportunity when Bhattacharya was off his line in the 75th minute.
