East Bengal appoint Armando Colaco as their new coach

The Red and Gold outfit have announced their replacement for Marcos Falopa who resigned on Wednesday...
East Bengal have appointed Armando Colaco as the successor to Marcos Falopa as the Goan shall take over the reins for the rest of the 2013-14 season.

"Armando Colaco has been named as the new coach of East Bengal. He is expected to take charge of the team from Monday," informed Kalyan Majumdar, East Bengal general secretary, to Goal.

"The departure of Marcos Falopa is saddening but we have to move on," he added.

Colaco's record in the top division league has been exceptional having won two National Football League (NFL) and three I-League titles with Dempo SC. He also has won the Federation and Durand Cups and was the first coach to guide an Indian club into the semi-finals of the AFC Cup - a feat matched by East Bengal this season under Falopa.

"We needed to find a replacement immediately and Colaco was free for now. His record is very good. We expect good results from the team under his guidance. We aim to win the I-League," Majumdar mentioned.
