Shillong Lajong FC sack Desmond Bulpin, assistant Thangboi Singto to take over as interim coach

The Reds have been winless in their last nine I-League matches since December last year which eventually led to the Scot being shown the exit door...
Shillong Lajong Football Club has relieved head coach Desmond Bulpin of his duties as the club's assistant coach Thangboi Singto is set to take charge as interim coach with immediate effect.

Backing the decision, the North-eastern side's general secretary Larsing Ming Sawyan has expressed full faith in the experience that Singto has had with the club.

"Thangboi has been with the team since 2009 and has two and a half seasons of I-League experience besides a stint in the second division in 2010-11 season, when Shillong Lajong qualified again in the I-League. We have faith in his abilities," he said.

Shillong Lajong have so far managed to accumulate 15 points from 17 matches, having registered three wins besides six draws and eight loses in the I-League.

Bulpin will however continue to be associated with the club in their youth development department. “The club would like to place in record the valuable contributions of Desmond Bulpin in the youth Development system of the club, which we believe will pay dividends in the near future," Ming added.

"We thank him for his services and the commitment showed to the Club. We wish him all the best for the future. Our immediate goal is to concentrate on the next 2 home games and the away game at Salgaocar before the break."
