The Oilmen had begun their I-League campaign with a 3-2 defeat to Pune FC and followed it up with a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Churchill Brothers.
"We learned a very good lesson from our last two defeats. So we will try our best to take the necessary precautions [against United SC]," Bhattacharya told Goal.com.
Speaking of the defeat to the Goan side, the ONGC coach maintained that they weren't in their best form on the given day and are capable of much better performance.
"It was not our day," he said. "Whatever our usual performance is, it was totally apart from that. It not only happens in Indian football, but happens abroad also.
"You can see that teams like Liverpool and Arsenal also have conceded five or six goals. That does not mean that the team is bad. Sometimes it depends if it is your day or not," he added.
Subrata Bhattacharya went on to brand Churchill Brothers SC as "one of the best" and picked the Red Machine as his favourites to win the I-League 2012-13.
"From the Federation Cup, every day I have been saying that Churchill [Brothers] is one of the best teams in the country this year. Besides this championship (I-League), Churchill was my favourite in the Federation Cup also," he said.
