Sporting Clube de Goa sign Seiya Sugishita

The Goan side have bolstered their strike-force by adding the Japanese centre-forward ahead of their game against Dempo SC…

Sporting Clube de Goa have snapped up Japanese striker Seiya Sugishita for a season long deal after Bong Bertrand, who failed to impress in the pre-season, has been released by the club.

The 25 year old plied his trade in the Japanese Regional League for Saitama FC in the Saitama city which has two major J-League clubs in the form of Urawa Red Diamonds and Omiya Ardijya.

“I really look forward to playing in India.  I would like to thank Sporting Club de Goa and Libero Sports for giving me this opportunity and I hope to repay their faith in me with many goals in this I-League season!” he said.

“My new teammates have made me feel at home and I cannot wait to play my first game as soon as I'm back from Japan,” he added.

“Seiya is a very talented striker and has all the attributes to succeed in India.  His quick pace and technical sharpness will make him a threat to defenders in the League,” said Arvind Narayan, Sugishita’s agent.
