The sponsors have stated categorically that should their demands are not met, there will be a war will be taken on to another level with legal procedures came into the picture.
Speaking to Goal.com, Chirag Computers boss Kaustav Roy said, “We are not happy at the way the team is being run. We want to be the investors in the club; we want a majority stake in the club. We now want to be an investor rather than just sponsor.”
Ironically the club is registered by the name of United Sports Club and is affiliated by the same name to both Indian Football Association, the state football body of West Bengal, and the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Moreover the sponsors now want to actively get involved in the team selection process as they are not happy with the recruitment process wherein the club officials rope in the players with whom they share a cordial relation with.
United Sports club Director, Sidhartha Bhattacharya was quoted saying, “It is too early to comment on it. But we certainly have given them some conditions that need to be looked on.”
It has also been learnt that while the sponsors are keen on retaining coach Subrata Bhattacharya for another season, the club officials think otherwise.
