Given that the I-League clubs have to fulfil the AFC Club Licensing criteria by the end of this year in order to place forth their argument of being part of the coming I-League season, Viva Kerala have roped in the services of P.K.Kunhikrishnan who has an AFC ‘A’ license as demanded by the continent’s football governing body.
Kunhikrishnan’s last stint was in England where he was coaching in a local school and has also been the assistant coach of Kerala’s Santosh Trophy team earlier.
It is learnt that the experienced A.M.Sreedharan still continues to be part of the set-up given that Kunhikrishnan has take over the reins for the last 10 days or so.
“We are to finalise the deal with him (Kunhikrishnan) as the new head coach. He has been with the team for 10 days and has the AFC ‘A’ license.
“He was coaching in England previously. Sreedharan is still with us for now and we haven’t yet decided his future,” said Liaquat Ali, director of Viva Kerala, on Tuesday.
The club shall also play their home matches this season at the Jawahar Municipal Stadium, Kannur which is known for hosting the Ek Nayanar Memorial Gold Cup.
