The Andorran international had agreed to join East Bengal as he submitted a letter of willingness whereby the club processed a transfer request. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) have written to the Andorran FA requesting for the International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
As Goal.com had earlier reported, Sonejee would have to be
registered under East Bengal as they submitted the documents to the Indian FA
for the transfer.
On Friday, the I-League champions applied for an ITC for
Sonejee and as expected, the Indian FA answered stating that the request
couldn’t be processed.
The AIFF went on to ask the Goa Football Association (GFA)
to question Churchill Brothers as to why they are planning to sign a player,
whose transfer request is being processed already.
“I shall write to the AIFF that they need to look into the
matter and not the GFA since it’s an inter-state affair. However, I have
performed the work of a postman and passed on the message of the AIFF to
Churchill Brothers,”GFA secretary, Savio Messias informed Goal.com.
Meanwhile, its good news for football fans in Goa as the
I-League matches from the third round shall be played at the Fatorda Stadium,
which has a brand new natural turf, as opposed to the artificial one at the
Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.
“The stadium was being re-laid and also due to the rains, we
had to host the games at the Tilak Maidan. Fatorda Stadium is in perfect
condition,” added Messias.
