OFFICIAL: Chirag United Sign Australian Defender Keegan Nash

The Kolkata outfit has completed the signing of their Asian foreigner....
Chirag have been the busiest I-League team in terms of transfers and they have continued their spending even during the season by completing the move of Australian defender Keegan Nash.

The former Adelaide city center half has been training with Subrata Bhattacharya’s team since last week but wasn't eligible to play against Mohun Bagan because he was awaiting clearance for his transfer.

But now that all formalities are complete, the Aussie will be available for the game against Mumbai FC on Friday.

Chirag official Siddhartha Bhattacharya explained the reason behind signing another foreign defender and ensured that Nash wont be having trouble adapting.

Speaking to Goal.com he said, “Nash is a very talented tall defender who will help us solve our problem in the fullback position because he will play alongside Du in the center that would allow Safar Sardar to play on one of the sides.

“He (Nash) is a very friendly guy who is already gelling well with the rest of the team. He speaks English so the club won't have any problem communicating which should help him adapt easily.”

Chirag have now signed four foreigners but the PIO (Player of Indian Origin) slot is still wide open.

California born Ishant Mohanto held talks with the club last week but that didn’t work out so Chirag are still on the lookout.

Mr. Bhattacharya told Goal.com, “We were not particularly impressed by him (Ishant Mohanto) so we are still looking for a PIO.”
