I-League: East Bengal Sign Addo For Edmilson

East Bengal have registered Ishmael Addo as their replacement foreign player for Edmilson Marques, who was sidelined due to Hepatitis B, and is expected to play against Churchill Brothers tomorrow.
The Ghanaian has been signed for the season and will be available for selection against Churchill Brothers as his registration was completed 48 hours before the game tomorrow.

Addo has played for several big clubs like Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2004-05 who participated in the UEFA Champions League in that very year.

The 26 year old was part of Ghana U-17 team which reached the World Cup in New Zealand’99 where he was the topscorer.

Speaking to Goal.com last night, East Bengal coach Stanley Rosario said, “I played him as an attacking midfielder in the training and he did well.”

Or is Addo to be played as an attacking medio?

“He can play as an attacking midfielder that gives me an option. I would either use Yakubu or Addo in the midfield and the other would partner Chhetri upfront.”

The Red and Gold’s have been playing without the third foreign player as Edmilson was diagnosed as suffering from Hepatitis B. He hasn’t played for East Bengal since round two when his side went down to Mumbai FC.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) gave the green light to East Bengal to look for a replacement only on November 12th.
