Armando Colaco's side made light work of Lajong, to remain unbeaten in the league and go top of the standings...
Japanese midfielder Ryuji Sueoka (45+2', 90+1') grabbed a brace while Clifford Miranda had a 50th minute goal to his name, while Jibon Singh scored the lone consolation goal for Lajong in the 73rd minute before Anthony Pereira's injury time goal (90+6') rounded up the match in favour of Dempo.
Joaquim Abranches replaced injured Koko Sakibo in the starting line-up alongside Ryuji Sueoka in the Dempo attack, while Rowilson Rodrigues slotted in for Mahesh Gawli in defense. Rohan Ricketts was left on the bench with Climax Lawrence getting the nod in the midfield.
The away side's forward line comprised of Friday Gbeneme and Sushil Singh while Minchol Son and skipper Wailadmi Passah were the two center backs for Lajong FC.
Dempo had the better chances early on but Abranches showed lack of composure as he shot wide in the sixth minute with only the Lajong keeper to beat. Two minutes later, Lalthuammawia Ralte was relieved to see Anthony Pereira's shot come off the crossbar, with Sueoka initiating all attacking moves.
Eventually, after Sushil Singh managed to fire the first shot in the 17th minute, the Lajong striker had at least two more attempts on goal in the next 10 minutes or so.
The Lajong custodian was meanwhile alert and did well in an one-on-one with Anthony Pereira, to save his side from conceding a goal.
When it almost started looking like a drag affair in the first half, it was Ryuji Sueoka who rose to the occasion to nod in a Climax Lawrence cross in the injury time of the first half.
Five minutes into the second half and Sueoka would have deemed himself unlucky to hit both the post from Anthony Pereira's cross before Clifford Miranda slotted the rebound on the inside netting to double Dempo's lead.
Sushil Singh chested down Jibon Singh's pass for team-mate Lalramluaha Hmar, whose powerful right-footer is well blocked by Dempo keeper Roychowdhury in the 67th minute.
Minutes later, Lajong FC pulled one back through Jibon Singh who blasted a left-footed shot that almost blinded Roychowdhury to his far post after being set-up by Sushil Singh.
Sueoka converted a penalty after the ball was handled in the box by a Lajong defender to make it 3-1.
A cross by Ryuji Sueoka was headed across the goal by Clifford Miranda while Anthony Pereira was left with an easy job of tapping the ball home in the injury time of the second half.
Dempo SC have therefore reclaimed the top spot a day after Churchill Brothers SC had claimed the honours, having secured 13 points from five matches, while Shillong Lajong FC remain eighth with seven points from an equal number of matches.
