I-League 2018/19: Yu Kuboki joins Minerva Punjab from Sydney Olympic FC

Minerva Punjab have signed forward Yu Kuboki on a permanent transfer from Australian club Sydney Olympic FC, Goal can confirm. 

The Japanese had been in scintillating form for the Blues in the previous season, scoring 11 goals from 22 matches. Kuboki can also slot in as an attacking midfielder or as a withdrawn striker. 

He has previously played for Thai clubs such as Chamchuri United,  Nakhon Pathom United, Chachoengsao FC, Ayutthaya United and Samut Sakhon FC before flying to Australia.

After the departure of Bhutanese sensation Chencho Gyletshen, the I-League champions will now look up to Kuboki for scoring goals. 

Eric Dano and William Opuku are likely to continue with The Warriors, whereas Kassim Aidara has parted ways. Minerva will look to rebuild their squad as their star performers of previous season have left for greener pastures. While Kamalpreet Singh and Rakshit Dagar have joined East Bengal, left winger Abhishek Ambekar and defender Sukhdev Singh have joined Mohun Bagan.
