Yanga Africans defender Kelvin Yondani has been suspended for an unspecified period of time for his conduct against Simba’s Ghanaian defender Asante Kwasi in the derby match that ended with the league leaders winning 1-0 at the National Stadium on April 29, 2018.
The experienced defender was captured on camera spitting at Kwasi in his team's defeat an incident that was missed by the referee.
Tanzania Premier League Board sent the issue to the disciplinary committee for the final decision on the player’s suspension.
“We recognize that the Yanga defender Kelvin Yondani committed a violent act contrary to football to Asante Kwasi as seen in the video pictures, the referee did not see him but we have decided to suspend him until the committee sits down to decide his issue,” he said.
TFF also had a warning for Simba’s spokesman Haji Manara for entering on to the football pitch after the match, an act that is prohibited for anyone who is not directly involved with the game to do even after the final whistle.
Yondani may face up to sh1, 000,000 Tsh in fines and up to a 10 match suspension.
