After the Socceroos were humbled 4-1 by Norway in a friendly last weekend, Denmark took note with one local paper saying they had nothing to worry about ahead of their meeting in the group stages of the 2018 World Cup.
Drawn in Group C alongside Australia, France and Peru, Denmark were excited at seeing one of their opponents falter in a friendly, but one of their own has said they mustn't take the Socceroos lightly.
Thomas Sorensen played at two World Cups for Denmark but finished off his playing career in Australia with Melbourne City.
Still living down under, the former Stoke City keeper has first-hand knowledge of his country's soon-to-be rivals and stressed the Socceroos need to be respected.
After holding Colombia to a 0-0 draw at Craven Cottage on Wednesday (AEDT), Sorensen's warning is timely.
"I think the Socceroos are just trying to find their feet under a new manager...you can't put too much into results right now," Sorensen told the Canberra Times.
"I'm sure Australia will be ready for the World Cup when it comes around.
"If you don't show Australia respect...they've caused a lot of teams problems.
"If you don't take that seriously and you overlook them, you're stupid."
Sorensen admitted Denmark will expect to win the game at all costs but conceded that's exactly what the Socceroos will have on their mind too.
The second group game for both nations, the clash between Australia and Denmark will prove decisive in terms of who can escape from one of the toughest groups at the World Cup.
