Who will win Ligue 1 in 2019-20? The favourites, outsiders, underdogs & latest odds

Ligue 1 is back and Paris Saint-Germain will be aiming to continue their domination of French football with a seventh title in eight years.

The capital club won 27 of their first 30 games and eventually finished on 91 points, 16 clear of second-placed Lille, to win their eighth top-flight title.

Who are the favourites to win Ligue 1?

PSG are 1/10 (1.10) favourites to win Ligue 1 with bet365. The reigning champions would have wrapped up the title even earlier than April 21 last season if not for a dip in form, and it is difficult to see any team challenging them this time.

Even with Neymar seemingly on his way out of France after just two seasons, the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Angel Di Maria and Edinson Cavani boast an attack that few teams in world football can match.

Although 1/10 (1.10) is possibly too short for many punters, PSG may be included in some accumulators - not least because of bet365’s ‘League Winner Early Payout’ promotion. More details and T&Cs can be found here.

Lyon are 7/1 (8.0) second-favourites win Ligue 1, representing the huge gap between PSG and the other 19 teams in the French top-flight.

The seven-time champions finished third last year although their transfer activity could be a worry, with Ferland Mendy, Nabil Fekir and Tanguy Ndombele all having left the club this summer.

However, their on-field activities appear to have dispelled any concerns, with Sylvinho’s men currently top of Ligue 1 after an impressive 6-0 home win over Angers.

Who are the underdogs to win Ligue 1?

Rennes are 50/1 (51.0) to win Ligue 1 for the first time in their history after starting with two wins from two games, including a stunning 2-1 win over PSG.

The Coupe de France holders sold Ismaila Sarr to Watford over summer but signed M’Baye Niang on a permanent deal and will hope he replicates the form he showed last season when he netted 11 times in 29 Ligue 1 games.

Saint-Etienne are available at 66/1 (67.0) to add to their record of 10 Ligue 1 titles, the most recent of which came in 1981.

No team took more points than the Greens did in the final 10 games of last season (23) and have started this term with four points to their name after rescuing a 1-1 draw against Brest.

bet365 also offer 66/1 (67.0) on last season’s runners-up, Lille, going one better this time around and capturing their first Ligue 1 crown in nine years.

The £73 million sale of star player Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal means there are unlikely to be much support of Christophe Galtier’s side, especially after an indifferent start of one win and one loss.

Who are the outsiders to win Ligue 1?

Monaco only narrowly avoided relegation last season after a tumultuous campaign and are 100/1 (101.0) in bet365’s outright winner market.

The principality club sacked both Leonardo Jardim and Thierry Henry before rehiring the former in January. This term has started as the last one finished, with Monaco losing both their games so far to prop up the rest of Ligue 1.

Marseille, who finished fifth last season, are also 100/1 (101.0), whilst punters can get 150/1 (151.0) on Nice and 200/1 (201.0) on Montpellier.
