Perak advanced to the 2018 Malaysia Cup semi-final meeting against Sabah after completely dominating the second leg of the quarterfinal against PKNS FC as the 0-2 scoreline took them through to the next stage of the competition.

Luiz emerged as the hero for The Bos Gaurus, first with a long range shot in the first half and then with a thumping header in the second half as Perak beat PKNS for the first time this season.

Both teams were also paired against each other in the FA Cup where PKNS emerged victorious. Adding that to the Super League encounters and the first leg of this quarterfinal clash, PKNS had held the upper hand over Perak in five previous meetings.

But it was the visitors who played like they had the form coming into the match as Mehmet Durakovic's team displayed excellence from the first whistle to the last. The Red Ants just did not get into the game at all and Hafizul Hakim had one his easiest ever nights.

The last time Perak emerged as champions of the Malaysia Cup was back in 2000 when they beat Negeri Sembilan in the final. Having gone close last season, the Super League side will be expected to come out on top against the Premier League side in Sabah.

Which could well set Perak up in a cup final encounter against their victors from last season in Johor Darul Ta'zim, and a chance of revenge on the best stage.
