After recovering from an injury that kept him on the sidelines for a month, Selangor youngster Syahmi Safari has not been playing as much as he used to.

And when he is brought on in the Red Giants' recent matches, the winger has been utilised more as a midfielder by head coach Nazliazmi Nasir.

Most recently, he helped Selangor record a 1-1 draw against the in-form Perak at home in their league clash on Tuesday, after coming on as a second half substitution.

However, the 20-year old is unperturbed by the change in position and role following his injury, which he had picked up in the Red Giants' 3-0 win over Kuala Lumpur in their first leg FA Cup quarter-final match.

"The fact that I was able to help change the game and find the equaliser will definitely work wonders on my confidence, after having been out of the action for sometime. God willing, I am ready to start in our coming matches. All of my teammates and I are ready to do our best when given the chance.

"I believe we are all ready to play in our first leg FA Cup semi-final match (against PKNS FC) this Saturday. We've shown that we are capable in our draw against Perak tonight, and I'm confident we'll do better.

"I don't mind being fielded as a midfielder as I used to play as a midfielder, as well as a right winger and right back. I am ready to play in whatever position, and I'll give my best and the most impact," said the Malaysia U-23 international in the post-match press conference.

After the Tuesday match, Perak remained in second place, but will go 13 points behind leaders JDT if the Southern Tigers beat Terengganu on Wednesday. For Selangor, their fourth consecutive undefeated match was not enough for them to avoid dropping down one spot to the ninth place.
