After just being released by A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers, Steven Lustica has been picked up by Croatian top-flight side NK Inter Zapresic.

The 27-year-old midfielder spent two years in Croatia between 2011 and 2013 with Hajduk Split before returning to Australia across stints with Adelaide United, Brisbane Roar and the Wanderers.

Lustica played 23 games for Western Sydney across two seasons scoring one goal and also struck against Arsenal in a pre-season friendly.

NK Inter Zapresic finished seventh last season in the Prva HNL and confirmed the signings of Tomislav Valentić and Marko Burzanović along with Lustica on Tuesday.

Managed by Samir Toplak, Inter are set for their fourth straight season in Croatia's first division after sealing the second-division title in 2014/15.

Real Madrid star Luka Modric and Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren both had stints with the club early on in their careers.
