Stephane Bahoken powers Angers past Monaco

Stephane Bahoken scored the lone goal in Angers’ 1-0 victory over Monaco in Tuesday’s French Ligue 1 encounter at Stade Louis II.

The 26-year-old joined the Stade Raymond Kopa outfit in the summer as a free agent after agreeing to a four-year contract.

In his fifth appearance for the side, the former Nice attacker registered his second goal with a powerful strike to beat goalkeeper Diego Benaglio in the 27th minute.

The goal proved decisive to help Leonardo Jardim’s men return to winning ways after a 0-0 goalless draw with Toulouse on Saturday.

The attacker featured for the entire duration of the game along Senegal international Cheikh Ndoye who got a caution in the tie.

Cote d'Ivoire international Ismael Traore replaced Mateo Pavlovic in the eighth minute of the encounter.

With the victory, Angers are ninth in the league standings with ten points from seven games.

Bahoken will be aiming to continue with the impressive performance in their next league tie against Guingamp on Saturday.
