Rudy Gestede on target as Middlesbrough progress to FA Cup fourth round

Rudy Gestede scored a goal in Middlesbrough's 2-0 defeat of Sunderland in Saturday’s FA Cup third round encounter.

Two first half goals were enough for Tony Pulis’ men to see off their league rivals and scale through to the fourth round of the competition.

Gestede broke the deadlock at the Riverside Stadium in the 10th minute after being set up by Adama Traore - the Benin forward's second goal for the Boro in all competitions this season.

Three minutes before half time, another effort from Martin Braithwaite wrapped up victory for the Riverside Stadium outift.

Middlesbrough, placed eighth in the second tier of the English league, will continue their chase for a playoff spot when they host Fulham on January 13.
