Orlando Pirates forward Brenard Morrison has thanked the club's technical team for giving him the opportunity to play against Ajax Cape Town on Saturday night.

Bucs progressed to the Last 16 of the Nedbank Cup after defeating 2-0 at the Orlando Stadium with Ghanaian midfielder-come-striker Morrison grabbing a brace.

The former AS Vita player was making his first appearance since November 2017. Pirates head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic gave Morrison a chance and the diminutive forward grabbed it with both hands by giving a good performance.

Morrison had been playing for the Bucs reserve team in the Multichoice Diski Challenge (MDC).

The 24-year-old attacker stated that playing in the Premier Soccer League (PSL)'s reserve league helped him to improve his game.

However, he believes that players from the MDC don’t get enough recognition, but if they are given a chance they can make impact in the PSL.

“Last year I was playing for the Pirates reserve team in the MDC. It was the decision that I made upon myself because I was not playing in the first team. I don’t have to look down upon myself," Morrison said.

"I decided to talk to the coaches that I have got no chance in the first team. So, I played for the team in the MDC in order to pick up myself and join the first team," he added.

“It wasn’t that the coaches demoted me to the second team. With the quality of players we have in the MDC everyone can fit in the first team, so if you play there. I don’t see any difference between the MDC and the first team.”

The hard-running attacker also added that playing against bigger clubs motivates him as a player.

Morrison will be hoping to make feature when Pirates lock horns with Chippa United in a Premier Soccer League (PSL) game on Sunday, the 25th of February 2018.

The encounter is scheduled to be played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium
