Nigeria continue their World Cup preparations with a friendly showdown against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Port Harcourt on Monday.
It’s a valuable opportunity for Gernot Rohr to assess some of the fringe players in his squad, and to ensure his team perfect their method and approach ahead of the challenges to come.
The German coach still needs to cut his provisional list down to a final 23, and even though some decisions will be made for him—Moses Simon has already been ruled out—Rohr still has some tough decisions to make.

Rohr has already suggested that uncapped duo Simy Nwankwo and Junior Lokosa will lead the line against the Leopards, who are the highest placed African side in the Fifa rankings not heading to the World Cup.
It appears unlikely that, with competition fierce, both the Crotone hitman and the NPFL’s top scorer will make the plane to Russia, but Monday’s match offers both a valuable opportunity to impress.
Elsewhere, it will be intriguing to see who Rohr opts for at full-back, with Brian Idowu, Elderson Echiejile, Ola Aina, Tyronne Ebuehi and Abdullahi Shehu competing for starting berths.
Similarly, while Wilfred Ndidi is making a positive recovery from his injury setback, the midfielder won’t be fit to face Congo. Who should the German start in his stead?
