The Buccaneers are keen to boost their chances of reaching the quarter-finals with a win over the Platinum Boys

Orlando Pirates will be targeting their second win in their 2018/19 Caf Champions League Group B campaign when they host FC Platinum at the Orlando Stadium on Friday.

The South African giants are looking to return to winning ways in the continental competition having succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Tunisian champions Esperance de Tunis away last month.

Their maiden defeat in this year's tournament saw Bucs slip down to third place on the Group B standings, but they are only three points behind the leaders, Esperance, who are the defending champions.

Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic will be hoping to mastermind a win over Platinum which would see Pirates join Esperance at the top of the standings with one match left.

The experienced tactician will look to Justin Shonga, who has scored four goals in this year's Champions League including two against Guinean side Horoya AC at the Orlando Stadium two months ago.

The 1995 Champions League winners will be without their influential attacking midfielder Vincent Pule, who is set to serve his one-match suspension against Platinum.

Meanwhile, Platinum are keen to record their maiden victory in the group stage having been eliminated from the tournament after failing to win their first four matches.

The Zimbabwean champions suffered their third successive defeat in the competition when they lost 2-0 to Horoya away last month.

As a result, the Platinum Boys remained fourth on the Group B standings and they are four points behind fourth-placed Pirates with two matches left.

Norman Mapeza, the Platinum head coach, will be eager to lead his side to a famous win over Pirates, who are undefeated at home.

The Platinum Boys will have to do without Lawrence Mhlanga with the defender expected to serve his one-match suspension against the Buccaneers.
