Chippa United have confirmed that they have parted ways with coach Eric Tinkler.
Reports emerged on Sunday saying that the Chilli Boys had fired Tinkler following the team's 1-0 defeat to AmaZulu FC on Friday night.
Chippa team manager Peter Koutroulis told Goal on Sunday that he was in the dark regarding the former Orlando Pirates head coach's dismissal.
However, the club has since released an official statement confirming Tinkler's departure with immediate effect.
In the statement, Chippa confirmed that Joel Masutha will be the club's interim coach.
Masutha was previously in charge of Black Leopards before he was shown the exit door.
He is no stranger to the Port Elizabeth-based having worked under Roger Sikhakhane when Chippa United were promoted to the PSL four years ago.
The Chilli Boys have struggled in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) under Tinkler, with the trainer having replaced Dan Malesela in August 2018.
The draw against AmaZulu extended Chippa's winless run to six matches in the league, and they are currently a point above the relegation play-off spot on the PSL standings.
Tinkler's assistant Vincent Kobola, will remain at the club to continue working with the technical team for the time being.
Chippa are scheduled to face Tinkler's former side, Cape Town City in a PSL match on Tuesday in the Mother City.
