Hearts of Oak assistant coach Edward Nii Odoom has praised his players following their 1-0 victory over rivals Asante Kotoko in the Super Clash on Sunday.

The Phobians, who had gone three games without a win, have midfielder Patrick Razak to thank for bailing out the under-fire technical team with a wonderful finish in second half.

"I will have to praise my players for such a spirited performance in such a high profile game," Odoom said.

"However, I think the 1-0 scoreline does not reflect the true colours of the game. This is because we had a couple of decent chances which I believe we could have scored and record a heavy win.

"But in football, a win is a win and that is what matters most at the end of the day. I'm hoping that we will build on this win to recover from our early slumber," he added.

Odoom also hit back at the club's supporters over their criticisms.

"When you win games like this, people won't talk about anything else or praise you but losing comes along with lots of criticisms. The supporters must reduce the criticisms," he said.

Hearts have moved three places up to eight on the log with 14 points and will host Liberty Professionals at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
