Oktay also revealed that there is munition in the squad as some players have set their minds on leaving the club

Hassan Oktay has confirmed that he has no formal engagement with Gor Mahia just yet.

The Turk tactician was on the touchline as K’Ogalo sailed to the next round of the Caf Champions League with a hard-fought victory over Nyasa Big Bullets.

Gor Mahia needed a penalty shootout to overcome a gritty Malawian side in the return leg of the preliminary round staged in Blantyre on Wednesday.

But despite giving a slight hint of what he's set to offer the ardent fans, Oktay, who is among the four coaches lined up by K’Ogalo, is still waiting for official communication from the club’s top management with time running out before they find a replacement for Dylan Kerr.

Oktay also took charge of Gor Mahia's final preparation on Friday before the team departed for Mombasa for the opening match of the 2018/19 KPL season. K’Ogalo will have a tricky away fixture against Bandari when the league kicks-off on Saturday.

“Not yet. We shall see, Oktay told Goal.com when asked about his future with the record Kenyan champions.

Oktay also took issue with the numerous chances blown away by Gor Mahia in the games against Nyasa Big Bullets and he hopes that the players will work on their sharpness up front when they take on Bandari: "They (Nyasa) had one chance and scored, we had three and we didn’t convert.  I just want them to improve from where they were.”

The tactician, who is still on probation, however, hinted that some Gor Mahia players seem to have set their minds on leaving the club, further warning that this may affect the team's performance if the situation is not addressed. "We have good players but some of them want to go because the team spirit is not there...the team balance is not there.”

So far Francis Kahata is reportedly on the brink of leaving the 17-time Kenyan champions with the influential midfielder being linked with a move to Moroccan side Constantine. Rwanda international Jacques Tuyisenge is also on the radar of Mamelodi Sundowns and TP Mazembe of South Africa and Congo respectively.
