Sanjoy Sen Sony Norde Mohun Bagan I-League

Mohun Bagan head coach Sanjoy Sen will not travel to Maldives for the 2017 AFC Cup South Zone play-off

Mohun Bagan returned to winning ways in the I-League at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium, recording a 3-1 victory over DSK Shivajians on Saturday.

Head coach Sanjoy Sen came out firm with his comments after the match as The Mariners were forced to rally to take the lead after a pathetic first-half performance, bar a Balwant Singh brace within two minutes just ahead of the half-time whistle.

"I do not have a Plan B, C or D. I am a one-track coach and my team is like that. If you ask me that substitution changed the game then I do not know because I went ahead with a 4-3-3 in the last game but goals did not come. Here, they came so the questions after that become different," said Sen while pointing out to Prabir Das' introduction after half an hour of Sehnaj Singh who practically slowed down Bagan's rhythm of attack.

Sony Norde was included in the starting eleven and when asked if he required surgery on his knee after playing the full ninety minutes, the Haitian replied in the negative, much to the delight of the Bagan fans.

"I had a little pain in the beginning but as the game grew and the crowd rallied us on, the pain went away and I was able to perform well," the winger said. The team physiotherapist will send his assessment to Dr. Ananta Joshi on Saturday night and only on Sunday will Norde know if he has to go under the knife at all.

Norde will definitely not travel to Maldives for the 2017 AFC Cup South Zone Playoff game versus Club Valencia on 21st February. Along with him, Debjit Majumder, Pritam Kotal, Pronay Halder, Souvik Chakraborti and Jeje Lalpekhlua will also stay back in Kolkata as Sen has allowed them rest ahead of the arduous fixtures ahead.

Re-LIVE: Mohun Bagan 3-1 DSK Shivajians

Surprisingly, Sanjoy Sen will also not travel with the squad as he cited personal reasons pertaining to some family issues. The remaining members of the squad headed by assistant Shankarlal Chakraborty will depart Kolkata at 3 am on Sunday for Male via Doha, Qatar.

Dave Rogers, head coach of DSK Shivajians rued lapses in concentration post the 40-minute mark for their failure to grab at least a point after Milan Singh pulled them ahead in the 33rd minute.

"For the first forty minutes we were the better side and there on there was a lapse in concentration. If things were tied 1-1 at half-time we would have some chance but conceding two quick goals dampened our prospects. We will move on with it and come back stronger," assessed the Englishman after the game.
