The Soweto giants secured a 3-1 victory over Stars in a PSL match in Bethlehem three days after losing to Baroka FC in the 2018 Telkom Knockout Cup final in Port Elizabeth.
“It was really redemption time. When you are looking at the set-back we had, it’s so painful. We invested so much in that final. We gave our best to the 10 players and we didn’t get any profit," Sredojevic told SuperSport TV.
Thembinkosi Lorch, Justin Shonga and Linda Mntambo all scored as the Buccaneers extended their lead at the top of the league standings with a win over Ea Lla Koto.
“We came to this match, where we thought it should be a medicine for their soul pain they had suffered due to that setback,” he continued.
“The players applied themselves very well especially in the first half when we scored two wonderful goals. It wasn’t easy to deal with the opponent's long-throws and long-balls to their target Linda Bhengu," Micho explained.
Ea Lla Koto came back rejuvenated after the half-time break and they managed to grab what proved to be a consolation goal when Pirates captain Happy Jele scored an own-goal.
“We dealt with that well. At half-time, we agreed we will not sit back and defend. We shall defend by possessing the ball. In football, however, as they say, 2-0 is a very dangerous result,” he said.
“You have a situation where you think you have something and in one moment, things can turn against you and we had a blackout inside 15 minutes when we conceded that goal in the second half," he indicated.
“The moment we introduced Musa Nyatama, we calmed the game. (Paseka) Mako and (Asavela) Mbekile came on to put the game in the right frame of mind and we put ourselves to defend by possessing the ball," Micho added
“That possession showed us that the opponents were stretching themselves inside the opening few minutes and we able to score against us, while we scored the third to end the game at the end,” he concluded.
