Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin Sredojevic has explained why he will not rush Brilliant Khuzwayo back.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper is currently recovering from injury which he picked up prior to the start of the current Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign.

Khuzwayo joined the Buccaneers from their Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs on a free transfer in the off-season.

However, the former South Africa under-23 international is yet to feature for Bucs as he continues to nurse an ankle injury.

“I’m very happy to coach this group of players. Brilliant Khuzwayo is a top class personality," Sredojevic said on IOL.

"Even outside the field of play (he is a top class personality), any coach will be happy to have such a positive person in the team. He set the tone in the team and move the mood into the right direction," he continued.

Siyabonga Mpontshane has been Pirates' first-choice goalkeeper this season with Wayne Sandilands and Jackson Mabokgwane providing cover.

Although Sredojevic can’t wait to have Khuzwayo back, the Serbian tactician will not rush the highly-rated shot-stopper.

“I will say that he is working very hard. As to how far, we should not rush (him). With the injury that he sustained, I believe he has worked very hard (to be where he is now)," Micho added.

The former Al Hilal Omdurman head coach went on to reveal that Khuzwayo is making good progress from his injury.

"He is on the good road to recovery. The goalkeeper coach, medical team and the technical team will make the decision as to when can we utilise him the best possible way," Sredojevic concluded.

Pirates' next game will be against Chippa United in the 2018 Telkom Knockout Cup Last 16 game on the weekend of 19-21 October.
