Michael Ohanu delighted with dream start for El Kanemi Warriors

Michael Ohanu is pleased with his league's dream start for El Kanemi Warriors after he scored a goal and also gave an assist on his debut on Sunday against Nasarawa United.

Ohanu was the Nigeria National League highest scorer last season with Kwara United but he has found goalscoring act difficult to come by in the top flight since the beginning of the season before he decided to leave for the Borno Army during the mid-season transfer.

“I will say I am grateful to God for this wonderful feeling in my first match for El Kanemi Warriors,” Ohanu told Goal.

“It has been a difficult experience for me since the start of the season but I am happy that I made the right decision to come over to Maiduguri after coach Imama Amapakabo signified interest in him. I have to thank my new coach for the confidence reposed in me and I promise not to disappoint him.

“The decision to leave Kwara United came so quick and fast once I received the call. I have another opportunity to answer my critics who thought I was finished because of the way the season started for me.”

The striker nonetheless warns El Kanemi future opponents to play with caution as he feels he is truly back to his best again.

“I can’t pray for a better start than the one I had against Nasarawa United and I promise not to rest on that performance knowing that we are not yet safe in the league table,” he continued.

“I want to inform our future opponents that I am truly back to my best because I and my teammates will do everything to ensure that we are out of the relegation zone.”
