The best news from the weekend for Mexico interim manager Tuca Ferretti, a week in which his Tigres side was beaten at home by Club America, is that it was a good weekend for Mexican players in Europe. More specifically, the players he's called in for October's friendly matches against Costa Rica and Chile largely excelled - with some exceptions.
There continues to be great news coming out of Eindhoven for the Mexican national team. Hirving Lozano scored once from the run of play and once from the penalty spot and Erick Gutierrez also scored as PSV thumped VVV Venlo, 4-0. While Lozano continues to be one of the stars for the Eredivisie leaders, "Guti" is yet to see more than a 30-minute cameo. The summer arrival isn't feeling frustrated, though.
"I know that the players who are in my position are doing really well. All I can do is keep working hard, and my moment will come," Gutierrez told reporters after the win.
Both PSV stars now travel to Mexico to join the national team, as does Raul Jimenez. The Wolves forward set up a goal for the third consecutive week, playing a one-two with Matt Doherty before the Irishman smashed in Wolves' lone goal in a 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace. Jimenez had a few chances to score as well, sending one wide and seeing one stopped by the goalkeeper. Wolves now are unbeaten in their last six.
Not everyone crossing the Atlantic this week had an amazing weekend. Nestor Araujo has had an excellent start to the season with Celta de Vigo, but he saw a red card in the 58th minute of Celta's visit to Sevilla. Araujo earned his second yellow with a tackle on Andre Silva after the two had a bit of a scuffle on the sideline. It was enough for the referee to produce the card, with the suspension extending Araujo's international break.
Jesus "Tecatito" Corona came into Porto's rivalry match against Benfica for his now-traditional second-half cameo, but he was unable to alter the scoreline in a 1-0 defeat. Hector Herrera played the full match but will stay in Portugal rather than join up with the national team in Mexico.

Marco Fabian was on the bench for Eintracht Frankfurt. While he didn't get into the match, it's the first time the former Chivas midfielder was in the squad since a Sept. 14 game against Borussia Dortmund.
And Diego Reyes played as a defensive midfielder before being substituted by Fenerbahce in a scoreless draw with Basaksehir. He did the same during the Europa League this week, which saw the Turkish side get a 2-0 win over Slovakian side Spartak Trnava - Fener's only victory in the last five matches across all competitions.
Guillermo Ochoa also helped his club to a victory this week in the Europa League, with Standard Liege beating Akhisarspor, 2-1. The goalkeeper was between the sticks again this weekend as Standard topped Brugge 3-1.
Andres Guardado wore the captain's armband in Real Betis' Europa League 3-0 win over Dudelange, making way at the hour mark. He came off injured Sunday against Atletico Madrid with a left hamstring injury that could be a big blow for Betis. Guardado has played the third most minutes of any player in Quique Setien's side.
By contrast, Miguel Layun is still fighting for time at Villarreal. He came into the club's thrilling 3-3 draw with Spartak Moscow during Europa League play, then started this weekend's 3-1 loss to Espanyol.
