Melbourne City's Luke Brattan shows incredible technique with long-range volley

The City midfielder has been on the outer recently but certainly would have endeared himself to his coach with a stunning strike

Luke Brattan wasn't even a part of Melbourne City's squad two matches ago, now the midfielder is back in favour to score an absolutely worldly strike against Newcastle Jets at AAMI Park on Sunday night.

With half time approaching and City leading 1-0, the ball ballooned to Brattan outside the area, and with one touch to control it, the midfielder volleyed a vicious strike into the top corner.

City had already gone ahead in the second minute after Riley McGree capitalised on poor Jets defending to lash the ball home and give Warren Joyce's team the perfect start.

Joyce has been under recently for the decision to drop marquee striker Bruno Fornaroli from consecutive matchday squads.

Melbourne City fans staged a silent protest in favour of the Uruguayan attacker for the first 23 minutres - the number he wears on his back.
