Kenyan Premier League side Mathare United edged out National Super League side Ushuru FC 1-0 in a friendly match played on Thursday at Naivasha’s Old Trafford Stadium.
Both teams went to the encounter from respective league match defeats, Mathare United having beaten by Sofapaka on Sunday, a day before Ushuru were treated to a shock 1-3 beating by Modern Coast Rangers.
They showcased equal force throughout the friendly match winning a penalty each but it was Mathare United who were lucky to convert theirs courtesy of Chrispin Oduor in the 57th minute.
Lwamba Bebeto arose to take Ushuru’s penalty in the 81st minute but Wycliffe Kasaya stretched to pull a wonderful save which handed the Slum Boys the narrow victory.
The Francis Kimanzi coached outfit will meet Muhoroni Youth in their next league match.
