The Fire Boys could pick three points to mount more pressure on the Academy Boys, who will not take to the pitch this weekend

Wafa will not be in action this weekend but barring any extraordinary happening, the Academy Boys will not have to worry about giving up their lead on matchday 21 of the Ghana Premier League.

With seven players away on international duty, Klavs Rasmussen’s side’s encounter with Ashanti Gold has been rescheduled. A three-point lead and five goal difference between them and closest contenders Aduana Stars mean the latter will have to hit as many goals in their home tie with Liberty Professionals to force Wafa off the top.

Elsewhere, third-placed Hearts of Oak, following their shock home defeat to Ashgold on the last matchday, are eyeing a quick return to winning ways when they play away to tenth-positioned Bechem United.

A Hearts defeat at the Nana FosuGyeabour Park could very much play into the hands of rivals Asante Kotoko, who sit just a point below the Phobians. The Porcupine Warriors play at home to fifth-placed Medeama at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Slowly, Inter Allies are stealing themselves into the title race. With three points at the expense of Berekum Chelsea on Sunday, the Eleven-Is-To-One could jump to the fifth position.

Ebusua Dwarfs are chasing their eighth win of the season as they play as guests to new boys Tema Youth, who sit 11th on the table. The Crabs occupy the seventh position.

At the Nduom Stadium, Elmina Sharks welcome fellow newly-promoted side Bolga All Stars. Both teams find themselves in the relegation zone on the 14th and 16th positions respectively.

And finally at the Accra Sports Stadium, fifteenth-placed Great Olympics come up against reigning champions Wa All Stars, who parted ways with coach Enos Adipah this week due to their poor run this season. The Northern Blues currently sit two places above the relegation zone.
