Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia has not ruled out a move for Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Keagan Buchanan.

Reports over the weekend had linked the 25-year-old who has found game time hard to come by at Naturena with a move away from the club in January. But while Maritzburg was reported to have been his likely destination, the Team of Choice have confirmed that nothing is done just yet.

According to the Maritzburg boss, the club had previously expressed their interest in bringing the former Bloemfontein Celtic player to the club before the season began, but were told that he was not for sale as he was still part of coach Steve Komphela’s plans.

“We wanted Buchanan during the June transfer window, but Bobby Motaung (Chiefs’ team manager) told us that the player was in Chiefs’ plans for this season,” Kadodia told Isolezwe.

Nonetheless, Kadodia has expressed his desire to bring Buchanan to the club in the January transfer window, stating that they would even consider pursuing a loan deal should the Glamour Boys be open to a move.

“If Chiefs allows us to talk to him then we would be happy to have him at the club even if it is on loan, because he is a quality player.”
