The first Malaysia Super League (MSL) matchday of the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan was played out on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Second and third-placed Perak and Pahang were not able to keep up with league leaders Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), when both teams lost on Tuesday. On the same night, Kelantan in eleventh place were thrashed 5-1 by Kuala Lumpur in Cheras.

The remaining three of the round 11 matches had been scheduled to take place on Wednesday, but only two went on as planned.

The clash between PKNP FC and Selangor at the Pulau Pinang State Stadium had to be cancelled as the venue experienced a last-minute floodlights failure.

JDT pulled away at the top, thanks to a straightforward 2-0 win at home over last-placed Negeri Sembilan. The visitors were without their newly-appointed head coach Mario Lemos, who reportedly faced certification issues. Both of the goals in the match, played under torrential rain, was scored by Argentinian forward Gonzalo Cabrera, in the 33rd and 76th minute.

Melaka United meanwhile continued their improvement under new head coach Elavarasan Elangowan, when they held his former team PKNS FC to a 1-1 draw at home. Jeon Woo-Young opened the scoring for the hosts in the 15th minute through his free kick, but it was cancelled out in the 23rd minute by Jafri Chew's 43rd minute strike. Four minutes from time, PKNS' Daniel Ting was shown his second yellow for remonstrating against the referee, but the Mousedeers could not use the extra man advantage to find the winner.
