Four clubs remain in this year's edition of the Malaysia Cup, with the first leg semi-final matches taking place last weekend.

On Saturday, Terengganu FC recorded a slim 1-0 win over defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim FC (JDT) in Kuala Terengganu. The only goal of the match was scored by Malik Ariff 12 minutes from time, after he stabbed home a short cross from the left by skipper Kipré Tchétché. Rising star Safawi Rasid was not able to perform well for JDT in his home state, but the tie is far from over. The second leg will take place on October 20 at Larkin, where the Southern Tigers have only lost only twice this year.

In the following evening, Perak recorded a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Sabah in Ipoh. The visitors had turned in a standout performance in the tournament, edging more-fancied opponents en route to reaching the knockout stage, but the Bos Gaurus proved too strong for them. The hosts finished the first half two up through goals by Nor Hakim Hassan (17') and Wander Luiz (42'), but the Rhinos plugged their leaky defence in the second half. However, the floodgates opened once again in the final 15 minutes of the match, when Perak added three more; Gilmar Filho (73'), Firdaus Saiyadi (76') and Leandro Dos Santos (p. 90+5'). The return fixture will be played in Kota Kinabalu on 21 October.
