Malaysia Cup: 6 through, 2 more to go

Of the four groups, three have been decided with only one more group still very much wide open. From the three decided groups of Group A, Group B and Group D; only Sabah have secured a top place finish in Group D where they will await the runnersup from Group C. Pahang are Group D's runnersup but even a final day win over Sabah will not be enough for The Elephants to overtake The Rhinos.

Groups A and B looks similar with four teams who have qualified for the quarterfinal stage being Terengganu FC, Perak, PKNS FC and Felda United. All four teams are on 10 points each and will each play against teams that have been knocked out from the competition on the final day this weekend, to duke it out to finish as group champions.

Which leaves all the excitement focussed on Group C where MIFA, Kedah, Johor Darul Ta'zim and Kelantan are all still in with a shout to reach the next stage of the oldest cup competition in Malaysia.

MIFA play host to JDT at Shah Alam Stadium where the winner of the match will secure passage through. The permutations is simple for JDT, anything other than a win and they are out of the competition. For MIFA, even a defeat to JDT might be enough for them to sneak through depending on results from the other match.

The other match sees Kelantan welcoming Kedah to Kota Bahru where the former need nothing less than a win to go through. As for Kedah, they only need a point from the match to seal yet another knockout phase appearance for The Red Eagles.

As it stands, the quarterfinal line-up looks like this;

Terengganu v Felda
PKNS v Perak
Group C champion v Pahang
Sabah v Group C runnersup
