Kenyan giants AFC Leopards admits that they might lose coach Nikola Kavazovic

AFC Leopards have conceded that they will not stop coach Nikola Kavazovic from leaving the club if he gets a better offer.

The Serbian is heavily linked with a move to South Africa after he left Kenya last week under unclear circumstances.

The club, however, has since clarified that the former Township Rollers tactician returned to his motherland to take care of his ailing father.

Ingwe Organizing Secretary General Timothy Lilumbi said Kavazovic, who penned a two-yard deal in October, will only be required to return the signing-on fee if he wants to leave.

“As far as we are concerned, he’s still our coach, but we cannot stop him from moving if he has a better offer elsewhere. He will just have to write to the club and return the signing on fee to the club.

“He still has a contract with us and until that time he will return the cash, we consider him as such. I’ve seen the rumours on social media, but let it be known that Nikola still has a contract with AFC Leopards,” Lilumbi told Radio Jambo in an interview.

Lilumbi also revealed that the coach is yet to tender his resignation: “He has not resigned, but as AFC Leopards, we will not hesitate to release him if he wants to leave.”

Kavazovic is linked with a move to Free State Stars in the South African Premier League. Kavazovic’ assistant Marko Vasiljevic arrived in the country on Saturday and he is expected to take over from his boss at Rollers.

Ingwe are expected to kick off their 2018/19 KPL campaign with a tricky match against Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday.
