Kenya will not host this year’s Cecafa tournament as earlier planned.
Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa has revealed that the country is not in a position to host the same owing to financial issues.
“We are not in a position for now because we don’t have finances. We have already communicated the same message to Cecafa to get another host,” Mwendwa told a press conference in Nairobi.
Kenya was handed hosting rights for the second straight year even though Zanzibar had expressed interest to organize the annual competition.
Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Machakos, Kakamega and Narok counties were bidding to host the games of the tournament which Kenya won last year by beating Zanzibar on post-match penalties in the final.
