Sharks lost 2-1 to Gor Mahia in the league match three weeks ago, but William Muluya handed coach Dylan Kerr a second defeat in two successive games as both teams tried to keep fit during the Fifa international break.
Kariobangi Sharks midfielder Ovella Ochieng scored a late winner for Muluya to hand Sharks a psychological boost ahead of their Kenyan Premier League match against Wazito in four days time.
Harrison Mwendwa and Joachim Oluoch scored a brace in the game before Ovella popped up with a late winner to separate the game.
Mwendwa gave Sharks the lead in the 19th minute but Oluoch cancelled the scores from the spot after Humphrey Mieno went down in the box from a Michael Bodo challenge.
The league defending champions then went ahead after Oluoch shot Gor Mahia into the lead from the spot, but Mwendwa chopped off K’Ogalo’s lead after slotting home an equalizer before Ovella completed the work with a third goal.
Gor Mahia will take on Vihiga United in a league match on Sunday, March 31 at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium.
