Ndumiso Mabena

Kaizer Chiefs linked with Platinum Stars striker Mabena

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly interested in Platinum Stars striker Ndumiso Mabena, who won two PSL titles with Amakhosi's fierce rivals Orlando Pirates.

The 29-year-old has established himself as one of Stars' key players in attack since joining the club from Pirates on a three-year deal in 2014.

Last season was arguably Mabena's best season in the PSL finishing the campaign as Dikwena's top goalscorer with 10 league goals.

His exploits for Stars did not go unnoticed as he received a call-up from the South Africa senior national team, Bafana Bafana, at the end of the campaign.

The mobile forward's current Stars deal is due to expire in June 2017 and Amakhosi are said to be monitoring his situation at the North West club.

PSL sides Maritzburg United, Cape Town City and SuperSport United have also been linked with the striker, who won the 2008/09 National First Division (NFD) Golden Boot.

Mabena then left Winners Park for Pirates prior to the 2009/10 season and he went on to win six major trophies including two MTN8 Cup titles with the Soweto giants.

It is believed that Chiefs are hoping to sign Mabena as a free agent at the end of the season as they continue to sign former Pirates players.

Bongani Ndulula (currently a free agent), William Twala and Joseph Molangoane are all former Bucs players, who were signed by Chiefs between 2015 and 2016.
