The Amakhosi right-back has called on his teammates to be on the front foot from the first whistle

Kaizer Chiefs defender Kgotso Moleko says he is happy now that he is enjoying game time.

The right-back added that they expect a tough match against Maritzburg United on Saturday evening.

“We need to be on the front foot from the first whistle. It won’t be an easy game because they are fighting for their lives,” Moleko told the Chiefs website.

“They will be gunning for the win, but we will have to show them that we want it more,” he added.

With the defender having played twice out of 22 games in all competitions for the Soweto giants before Middendorp’s arrival, the Free State-born player has credited the German mentor for his improvement.

“It was tough, but coach Ernst came in and uplifted my performances,” continued Moleko ahead of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) match at the FNB Stadium.

Looking at the log table, the Soweto giants sit seventh with 32 points and have eight games remaining to wrap up their campaign, but the defender is optimistic they can have a say in the title race.

“It will be difficult for us to catch the teams above us on the log, but anything can happen in the eight games still left to play. We’re still in it mathematically and – for now – our focus is on the Maritzburg United and SuperSport United matches before the Fifa break,” he concluded.

Considering the fact that the Team of Choice is fighting to save their PSL status sitting at the bottom of the table, they have made changes in the technical team and playing personnel after the first round match ended in a goalless stalemate at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

As they are fresh from a 2-1 win over AmaZulu in their previous match, coach Eric Tinkler will be hoping to stun Amakhosi who are also confident going to this tie.

Chiefs defeated Highlands Park 3-2 at Moses Mabhida Stadium last Saturday and will be looking to retain the maximum points at home.
