Kaizer Chiefs coach Zwane frets over injuries as Billiat, Mashiane, Radebe doubtful for AmaZulu clash

  • Billiat already struggling with a knee injury
  • More players picked up knocks during international break
  • Fresh injuries making preparing for AmaZulu difficult

WHAT HAPPENED? Chiefs played Royal AM in the Macufe Cup in Bloemfontein and fresh injury concerns have hit their camp. Midfielders Sabelo Radebe and Happy Mashiane picked up knocks and they join Khama Billiat, who is already nursing an injury. Zwane is hoping they will not have more injuries during the course of the week as they prepare to host AmaZulu in the MTN8 semi-finals first leg on Sunday.

WHAT WAS SAID: "We got a few knocks in Macufe, Sabelo Radebe… Happy did not train yesterday when we started, Khama is still doubtful, he also just started training yesterday,” said Zwane as per iDiski Times.

“When it comes to fitness, he’s [Billiat] still not sure. I think the rest of the guys will be available if nothing happens during the course of the preparations. We’re looking forward to the game, we just hope that even those who are injured will be available by Friday because it will be matchday minus one and we want to be sure that we are ready for the game.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Chiefs are on the hunt for their first piece of silverware since 2015 and they are taking the MTN8 seriously. That makes them keen to have all their players available ahead of facing tough opponents like Usuthu.

WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS? Amakhosi will now be focusing on preparing for AmaZulu and hopefully carry a healthy advantage going into the second leg. Reaching the final would boost their belief of finally ending the long trophy wait. It could also breathe life into their inconsistent run in the league.
