Jockey Cup: India U16 team defeats Singapore 3-1

India U16 national team got the better of Singapore U17 team 3-1 on Saturday in the Jockey Club International Youth Invitational Football Tournament in Hong Kong. 

India had started the tournament with a win over Chinese Taipei U17s on Friday as they continue to ramp up their preparations for the AFC U-16 finals set to be held in September 2018.

On Saturday, though Singapore started brightly, pressing Indian goalkeeper Biaka into action early on, India started to dominate.

India took the lead in the 24th minute when Rohit Danu received a pass from midfielder Ricky John Shabong and finished the chance off with aplomb. Two minutes later, Danu made it 2-0 by capitalising on Bekey Oram's pass. 

Ridge Melvin made iot 3-0 in the 71st minute before Singapore pulled one back 11 minutes later. 

India next play Hong Kong in their last match of the tournament on Sunday.
